NEW Blackmagic Pocket 6K Mod!
Blackmagic Pocket camera owners have long awaited a major change to the cameras body style. With no guarantee on the horizon, people are taking it in their own hands to make modifications in order to improve the design of the setup.
A freelance filmmaker from New Zealand named Ollie has spent the past 6 months developing this modification that takes your built in screen and places it on top while adding tilt functionality. In the empty space of where the screen once say a new V-Mount battery plate will now reside. This is perfect for anyone using new micro styled V-Mount batteries (larger ones may cover the menu buttons to the right of the screen area).
The kickstarter just launched last night and was funded within a handful of hours. You can reserve yours for $500NZ ($311 US) and it is expected to ship February of 2024 in just a few months. Once received it’s estimated to take about an hour and doesn’t require any advanced skills. The kit comes with everything you will need except for a blow dryer or heat gun which will be needed to gently melt the glue holding the monitor to its current frame.
While everyone awaits the official body style change from Blackmagic, these mod kits offer a useful and practical solution for upgraded ergonomics on these rather uniquely designed cameras.

What is a Mod?
A camera modification, or mod, refers to any alteration or customization made to a camera in order to enhance its functionality, performance, or capabilities. This process typically involves modifying the camera's hardware, firmware, or software to achieve a desired effect or outcome. Camera modifications can range from simple tweaks, such as adjusting exposure settings or creating custom white balance profiles, to more complex modifications that involve replacing internal components or adding external accessories. These modifications can be made by professional technicians or by camera enthusiasts with technical knowledge and skills. Some common camera modifications include infrared conversions, which remove the camera's infrared-blocking filter to capture images in the infrared spectrum, and astrophotography modifications, which involve enhancing a camera's low-light performance and increasing its sensitivity to capture clear images of celestial objects. Camera modifications can significantly expand the creative possibilities for photographers and can cater to specific niches or styles of photography.
My Blackmagic Cinema Camera Guide is set to be released in January 2024. Right now it’s at a severely discounted price during pre-sale so make sure you grab it before January!
