Apple May Be Pulling Select Watches Off Their Shelves
Apple released 2 new lines of Apple Watches, the Watch Ultra 2 and the Watch Series 9 in September 2023.
The tech giant has announced that these watches will be temporarily unavailable for purchase on their online store and in Apple stores. This comes as a result of a technical intellectual property dispute, related to the blood oxygen monitoring feature found in recent Apple Watches, as outlined in an order from the U.S. International Trade Commission.
The unavailability will be effective from this week onwards, with Apple stores also refraining from selling these devices starting the day prior to Christmas. Apple has reiterated their commitment to resolving the situation promptly and to returning the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 to customers in the United States as soon as possible, should the order be upheld.
Owners of the Apple Watch SE Series should not be concerned as the blood oxygen monitor is not utilized in that series.
Should I Return My Apple Watch?
There is no need to return your Apple Watch if you are satisfied with it. However, if you’ve been wanting to buy one of these watches, it’s time to hit the store since Apple will not have any more units in stores for sale after Christmas Eve.
